On 21 October 2026, the Nifty 50 fell 0.34% (77.60 points) to close at 22,811.35, and the Sensex fell 0.19% (143.21 points) to 73,709.69. Early gains were erased by profit booking as Brent crude topped $110 a barrel on fresh Middle East tensions. The Nifty Midcap 100 fell 1.58% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 fell 2.37%, while the Nifty IT index rose 2.88% and was the main bright spot.
The Nifty is now below its 16 October close of 23,146.15.
