Sensex Jumps Over 1,100 Points As Rupee Rallies After Fresh RBI Forex Measures

Indian markets staged a strong rebound, with the Sensex jumping more than 1,100 points as the rupee strengthened against the dollar, outpacing most other Asian currencies.

The rupee’s gains followed fresh forex measures from the Reserve Bank of India along with direct market intervention. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra clarified that these forex measures should not be seen as capital controls, seeking to reassure investors about the central bank’s approach to currency management.

The combination of a stronger rupee and a rallying stock market offered some relief to investors after a volatile stretch, though analysts note that sustained momentum will depend on how global cues, including crude oil prices and US interest rate signals, evolve in the coming weeks.
