Study Abroad 2026–27: Visa and Funds Rules Indian Students Must Check for US, UK, Canada, Australia

Canada

Canada has ended the Student Direct Stream fast-track route, capped study permits at roughly 7 per cent fewer than in 2025 and requires most applicants to hold a Provincial or Territorial Attestation Letter. Students must show about CAD 22,895 as financial proof.

Australia

Australia has raised visa fees and uses a Genuine Student requirement. Applicants must show roughly AUD 29,710 per year in funds.

United Kingdom

The UK has raised visa fees and English-language requirements. The Graduate Route post-study visa will be cut from two years to 18 months for applications made on or after 1 January 2027, with PhD graduates keeping three years.

United States

The US has added a visa integrity fee and tightened interview checks, though STEM students can still benefit from extended work permits after graduation.

Before You Apply

Rules change often. Confirm requirements on the official embassy or immigration websites, and be wary of agents promising guaranteed visas.
