Trending in India, 24 September 2026: Asian Games Cricket, SA vs Australia, Kusal Mendis, NEET PG Result, NSE Share Price and Weather
Google Trends showed a burst of searches from India on 24 September 2026: two big cricket matches, an Asian Games opener, a record women’s innings, the NEET PG result, the NSE share price and “tomorrow’s weather”. Here is what actually happened behind each search, with sources.

1. Afghanistan vs Japan (Asian Games) and Darwish Rasooli
Afghanistan beat hosts Japan by 48 runs in the opening match of the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games in Nisshin (Aichi-Nagoya, Japan), a Group A game.
| Team | Score |
|---|---|
| Afghanistan | 129 for 6 (Mohammad Akram 34, captain Darwish Rasooli 29, Karim Janat 21, Mohammad Ishaq 25 not out off 17 balls) |
| Japan | 81 all out in 19.3 overs (Arab Gul 4 for 8 on T20I debut, Nangeyalia Kharote 3 for 19) |
Rasooli was named captain of a young, largely new-look squad for the Games, replacing regular captain Rashid Khan, according to the ICC and other reports. Afghanistan and Japan are also both in Group A with Nepal, and the top two teams from the group go to the quarter-finals.
2. South Africa vs Australia, first ODI, and Matthew Breetzke
South Africa beat Australia by 67 runs in the first ODI at Kingsmead, Durban, on Heritage Day.
| Team | Score |
|---|---|
| South Africa | 297 for 8 (Matthew Breetzke 112, Marco Jansen 75 off 59 balls; Ellis 3 for 57) |
| Australia | 230 all out (Mitchell Marsh 60; Keshav Maharaj 4 for 20) |
Breetzke scored the second ODI century of his career. Australia’s openers made a fast start (90 in the first 10 overs) before spin turned the game: they lost their last nine wickets for 101 runs. Jansen also took four catches, including a one-handed effort on the boundary. Names such as Jansen, Bavuma, Miller and Jack Edwards appear in the match report; other players searched around the same time (de Zorzi, Rickelton, de Kock) most likely trended because of the same match, but we have not verified each player’s role.
3. Kusal Mendis, and Sri Lanka vs England
In the second ODI at Headingley, Leeds, Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis scored 121, his seventh ODI hundred, reached in 82 balls, and put on 137 for the third wicket with Kamindu Mendis (54). Sri Lanka finished on 321 for 6, their highest first-innings total against England in ODIs since 2018, per Cricinfo. Pathum Nissanka made 25, and Gus Atkinson and Rehan Ahmed took two wickets each. England were chasing when we checked (Tom Banton and Jos Buttler were batting), so please check the final result on the scorecard.
4. Hayley Matthews: 182 against Zimbabwe
West Indies women’s captain Hayley Matthews hit 182 off 156 balls (28 fours, 2 sixes) in the first ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship series in Harare. It is the highest score by a West Indies batter in Women’s ODIs, the sixth-highest individual score in Women’s ODI history, and her 13th ODI century. West Indies made 299 and won by 99 runs; Modester Mupachikwa scored 86 for Zimbabwe (ICC).
5. NEET PG 2026 result
News reports say the NEET PG 2026 result was declared on 24 September 2026 by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). We could not open the NBEMS site to confirm details ourselves (it showed a security check), so please rely on the official site: natboard.edu.in. What candidates should know:
- Check the result and All India Rank only on the official NBEMS site; ignore links forwarded on social media or messaging apps, since fake “result” links are common.
- Reports say scorecards, the answer key and response sheets are due on 1 October; please confirm dates on the NBEMS notice.
- Counselling for NEET PG seats is run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC); watch mcc.nic.in for the schedule.
6. NSE share price
Shares of the National Stock Exchange of India began trading on 24 September at ₹1,800, about 0.8% above the ₹1,785 issue price, and were reported to have ended the day about 2% higher. Listing-day prices can move a lot, so we do not quote a live price; check nseindia.com or bseindia.com. This is news, not a suggestion to buy or sell. 7. Weather tomorrow (25 September)
Searches for “weather tomorrow” are local, so here is the broad picture from India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletins as reported by news outlets:
- Monsoon is withdrawing. It has nearly left Punjab and Haryana; the withdrawal line was reported through Gurdaspur, Chandigarh, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Dholpur, Udaipur, Deesa and Naliya.
- Punjab and Haryana: a western disturbance brings a wet spell from 25 to 29 September: light to moderate rain at isolated places on 25, 28 and 29 September and at a few places on 26 and 27 September.
- Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh: isolated to fairly widespread rain with thunderstorms and winds up to about 60 km/h through 29 September.
- Maharashtra: IMD indicated a Bay of Bengal system could bring heavy rain to Vidarbha and Marathwada between 25 and 28 September (a forecast reported on 21 September; check for updates). Delhi was reported to stay dry.
For your own city: open the city forecast at mausam.imd.gov.in or IMD’s Mausam app. IMD colour warnings mean: green, no warning; yellow, be aware; orange, be prepared; red, take action.
8. Wasim Akram: what we could not confirm
“Wasim Akram” was among the rising searches, but we could not find a verified news item dated 24 September explaining it, so we are not guessing. For background only: he is a former Pakistan left-arm fast bowler who won the 1992 World Cup, with 414 Test and 502 ODI wickets. If you saw a specific claim, please share the link and we will check it against a reliable source before writing about it.
