Buy or Wait? Laptop and TV Buying Guide for the 2026 Festive Sales

Laptops: Waiting May Not Save Money

Laptop prices in India have risen roughly 20–35 per cent year-on-year, driven by a global memory chip shortage, with entry-level models rising fastest. If your current laptop is over two years old or has less than 16GB RAM, buying now is generally better than waiting, as relief is not expected before late 2027.

What to Look For

16GB RAM is now the practical baseline, and many thin laptops solder RAM to the board, so buy the configuration you will need for its lifetime.

Compare With Refurbished

Festive discounts this year tend to favour bundled accessories rather than core specs. Compare the sale price of a new laptop with the actual price of a certified refurbished one, not with the discount percentage.

TVs: Sales Are Close

Amazon’s Great Indian Festival begins on 8 October and Flipkart’s Big Billion Days on 9 October, so if you can wait a few days, TV prices may dip again.
